Summit Academy's accelerated and enriched Elementary Program,
for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, places emphasis
on challenging each child's highest potential. The core curriculum
includes language arts, math, social studies, science, physical
education, art, foreign languages, and computer instruction.
Class sizes average 15, and never exceed 18.
The program fosters
enthusiasm and joy of learning along with satisfaction in accomplishing
academic objectives. It encourages creativity, risk-taking, and
higher-order thinking through the process of problem-solving
and group collaboration. Enthusiastic educators work as teams
to integrate the curriculum and raise student awareness of the
real-life application of knowledge. Technology is an integral
part of the elementary curriculum. Students use the latest technology
as they participate in research projects that investigate real
world issues locally and globally. Videography and computer labs
allow students to produce documentary-style and computer presentations
developed from their research and studies.
The self-motivation,
self-discipline, and independence that is fostered and encouraged
at Summit Academy give students the tools to pursue special interests
and endless avenues for individual growth. By combining academic
excellence with individual character development, a foundation
is built that promotes the development of study skills and rewarding
work habits while reinforcing social and emotional growth.
