Summit School
Since 1968, Summit School has provided thousands of children the necessary academic and interpersonal skills to lead productive and meaningful lives. Summit School is approved by the State of Illinois as a 14-7.02 private special education school and is accredited by the North Central Association.
Summit is dedicated to fulfilling the needs of children with learning difficulties. We accept students from kindergarten through high school graduation, who are challenged with identified learning, attentional and/or social difficulties, including children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Summit School offers an array of services to support students' educational experiences. Each student program is guided by an individualized education program (IEP).
Summit School academics include all core subjects contained in the Illinois State Learning Standards. Students receive additional support in the areas of computers, pre-vocational work program and transition planning. Related services include speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and counseling.
Summit School has a registered nurse to respond to the diverse health needs of Summit students. Summit School is well prepared to serve children with complicated medication combinations and children with seizure disorders.
